Expert Construction are seeking to recruit a Managing Quantity Surveyor on behalf of our Client who are a dynamic civil engineering contractor based in Omagh, County Tyrone. Their projects span a broad range of sectors and they are seeking an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team. Reporting to the Commercial Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the commercial management of a variety of construction projects.

Main duties

The successful candidate will have a management role in overseeing and preparation regarding the following core areas:

  • Preparation of feasibility studies, reporting on tenders and agreeing final accounts
  • Preparation/production and timely submission of interim valuations, WIP, cash flow forecasts and reconciliation reports
  • Preparation of variations/compensation events and contractual claims processes
  • Preparation of contract orders, valuations and final accounts
  • Preparation of client quotations and budgets
Candidate requirements
  • Relevant degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience as a Managing Quantity Surveyor in a contracting environment; experience on civil engineering projects desirable
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Sound understanding of contract law and legal procedures
  • Good technical proficiency; knowledge of construction methods, materials and cost accounting principles
  • Highly organised, can manage and prioritise workload to achieve deadlines
  • Strong people management skills in leading a team to achieve outcomes
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Proficient in IT/relevant software; ability to use construction cost accounting software and other project management tools
  • Valid UK driving licence is essential
  • The right to work in the UK is essential
