Expert Construction welcome applications for this Permanent role based in North Donegal. This hugely successful Main Contractor are market leaders in their sector and the role will involve assisting with the efficient and effective management of the functions of Safety, Health and Environmental issues. The successful candidate will be based out of Head Office in Donegal.
Sectors: Commercial / Education / Healthcare. All projects based in ROI & NI - North West area mainly.
The successful candidate will be tasked with:
- Assisting with the compilation and implementation of Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- To ensure the effective maintenance and improvement of the Integrated Management system in relation to the OHSAS45001 and 14001 standards.
- Conduct risk assessments associated with construction site activities.
- Ability to negotiate with statutory authorities.
- Conduct workplace audits and present findings.
- Detailed investigations and reporting of accidents/incidents.
- Coordinate and accompany contractor/end user/client auditors on operational visits.
- Visit sites to ensure that employees/subcontractors are adhering to all health and safety requirements.
- Promote a positive health and safety culture whilst recommending new initiatives for continuous improvement.
- Undertake Visible Felt Leadership visits with Site Management team.
- Co-ordinate the availability of persons and facilities to ensure managers, supervisors and employees attend and complete identified training.
- To identify improvement activities and training needs and give feedback of findings to managers and Compliance Manager.
- When possible, assist in the delivery of training.
- To advise managers on compliance.
- Monitoring staff to ensure compliance.
- Assist the company in reviewing and implementing all the necessary RAMS documentation in line with their third-party contract requirements.
- Carry out any other reasonable request made by line manager to support departmental or company objectives.
Essential Criteria:
- NEBOSH Certificate (as a minimum) and Safe-T-Cert.
- Experience of ISO.
- Demonstrate a pro-active approach.
- Good computer skills with a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
- Good time management skills with the ability to prioritise work and manage several tasks concurrently.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Have the ability to communicate with individuals at all levels including clients, contractors & consultants.
- Hold a valid driving license and have access to vehicle.
Desirable Criteria:
- Previous experience of working with a Main Contractor, preferably within the Commercial or Healthcare sector.
- Membership of Institute of Safety and Health working towards (TECH IOSH or Grad IOSH) - Safe-T-Cert holder.
