Our client is a global leader in innovative water treatment solutions, delivering advanced technology and engineering expertise to major industrial and energy projects worldwide. They are currently supporting a major infrastructure project in England’s energy sector, providing cutting-edge water treatment solutions for the site. This role offers an experienced HSE professional the chance to lead safety efforts on a high-profile project.

As Project HSE Lead, you will oversee HSE programs, ensure compliance, manage risks, and promote best HSE practices on-site. You will work closely with company and client site representatives, stakeholders and contractors to foster a culture of safety and operational excellence.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and oversee the implementation of HSE management programs, ensuring compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct daily site inspections, monitor construction activities, and maintain the HSE hazard log.
  • Identify and assess risks, proactively addressing safety concerns and escalating issues when necessary.
  • Compile and present safety reports, tracking key indicators and providing insights to project leadership.
  • Collaborate with contractors, subcontractors, and project teams to ensure a proactive safety culture.
  • Represent HSE interests in meetings with clients, vendors, and stakeholders, ensuring alignment on safety objectives.
  • Support or lead incident investigations, ensuring lessons learned are implemented effectively.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years of HSE experience, including 3+ years in infrastructure construction environments.
  • Experience in water treatment / utilities / engineering projects.
  • Proven track record of managing site-level HSE on active complex high-risk construction sites.
  • Certifications in site safety and emergency response – required.
  • Certifications in risk assessment – an advantage.
  • Experience interfacing with manufacturers, suppliers, GC, contractors, and international clients.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse teams and subcontractors.
  • Proficient in report writing, incident investigation, and HSE documentation.
  • Confident delivering inductions and training sessions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Engineering, HSE, or a related field – an advantage.
