RF Design Engineer

We are seeking an experienced RF Design Engineer, ideally at a Senior level, to work on defence, military, and avionics communications. The role involves developing long-range real-time video products and requires collaboration within a successful RF and Hardware Design team. You will be involved in the full product lifecycle, from requirements gathering through design, testing, release, and support of RF systems.

Requirements

• British citizen eligible for security clearance
• Experience with Radio Frequency System Architecture
• Proficiency in RF Simulation
• Experience with Altium Electronics for schematic capture, PCB layout, and footprint or symbol creation
• Knowledge of real-time long-range data link systems
• Understanding of high-resolution video transfer
• Exposure to RF inhibitor environments
• Bachelor\’s or Master\’s degree in Engineering or a related field

Role Responsibilities

• Design RF systems for New Product Introduction (NPI) and the evolution of existing RF systems for defence and aviation
• Develop RF System Architecture utilizing the latest RF components and technologies
• Perform RF Simulation using tools such as LabVIEW
• Design schematic capture and PCB layouts in Altium
• Design linear high-power wideband RF amplifiers (up to 200 Watts) using GaN or LDMOS technologies
• Design RF filters, transmitters, and receivers
• Design LNA, down converters, and upconverters
• Design antennas
• Utilize oscilloscopes, analyzers, and signal generators for testing and validation
• Use Cadence AWR Microwave Office and Ansys HFSS for simulation and design
• Work with switch-mode power supplies, embedded circuitry, glue logic, analogue electronics, and EMC circuitry
