Overview
Job Title: Visual Designer with Power BI
Location: Remote - 2 days per week onsite in London every fortnight
Duration: 3 Months
Rate: 400 per day - PAYE via Umbrella only
Role Overview
The Power BI Visual Designer is responsible for designing and developing visually compelling, user-friendly dashboards and reports in Power BI. This role bridges the gap between data engineering and user experience, ensuring that business users can easily interpret and act on insights.
Responsibilities
- Design intuitive and interactive dashboards using Power BI Desktop and Service
- Draft Wireframe docs for proposed reporting Dashboards and reports
- Apply UI/UX best practices to layout, navigation, and visual design
- Ensure consistency with branding guidelines and accessibility standards
- Conduct usability testing and iterate based on feedback
- Document dashboard functionality and provide user training/support
- Implement Design consistency documentation for Templates, bookmarks, drill throughs, tooltips, and slicers for enhanced interactivity.
Required Skills
- Proven experience with Power BI (Desktop, Service, APPS)
- Strong understanding of data visualisation principles and UX design
- Familiarity with design tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD) is a plus
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and responsive design
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Attention to detail and a user-first mindset
- Experience with creating bespoke Power BI theme files and custom visuals
- Background in design, HCI, or front-end development
