Requirements:

  • Strong, demonstrable experience with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)
  • Active SC clearance
  • Experience across some of the following is highly desirable: VMware NSX / NSX-T, vSAN, Aria Operations, Aria Automation, vDefend, Site Recovery Manager / SRM, VMware vSphere / vCenter, infrastructure automation, complex enterprise virtualisation environments
  • Experience on major VMware transformation, build or migration programmes rather than purely BAU support environments
  • Ability to work within highly secure and restricted technical environments
  • Current clearance status should be clearly stated, including when SC clearance was last used, the type of secure environment worked within, and whether prior experience includes restricted or highly controlled infrastructure environments

Responsibilities:

  • Support the design, build and delivery of a large-scale VMware Cloud Foundation environment
  • Contribute to VMware Cloud Foundation design, build and implementation
  • Support the transition from design into engineering delivery
  • Deploy, configure and optimise VCF environments
  • Work across VMware networking, storage, automation and resilience technologies
  • Troubleshoot complex virtualisation and infrastructure issues
  • Produce and work from technical design documentation
  • Support migration, upgrade and transformation activity
  • Work collaboratively with architects, engineers and wider project teams
  • Operate within a highly secure and restricted technical environment

We are building a pipeline of experienced Senior VMware Cloud Foundation Engineers with active SC clearance for an anticipated long-term infrastructure programme based across secure sites in Derby. The programme is expected to run through to December 2027, with two engineers required on a staggered basis, one joining during the design phase from late October and a second in late November. The role is predominantly onsite, potentially up to five days per week depending on the project phase and environment, and is best suited to people within a realistic commuting distance of Derby or comfortable travelling regularly to site. This is an inside IR35 contract at £500-£552.50/day. We are currently progressing through the final stages before mobilisation and are speaking to relevant engineers now to build an initial shortlist.
