Senior Commercial Manager
Location: Didcot, Leicester, or Cardiff. (2/3 days per week onsite)

Overview:
The Commercial Lead will drive the development of commercial strategies and provide commercial model analysis for a Government Agency’s key strategic programmes, including managing commercial contracts and grants. A key responsibility will be offering commercial guidance, participating in oversight boards, and ensuring compliance with commercial protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop commercial strategies as part of business cases for major projects, evaluating models to maximise outcomes and encourage investment.
- Innovate new commercial approaches, including public-private partnerships, equity shares, and loans to enhance market offerings.
- Lead policy updates following public procurement reforms.
- Assist the Assistant Director of Commercial in setting and maintaining standards for contracting and grant competitions, ensuring value for money and risk management.
- Provide commercial advice and support to project teams, reviewing proposals, changes, and deliverables, and negotiating strong commercial results.
- Prepare internal and external briefs and guidance for internal teams and suppliers.
- Engage across the agency to support a consistent, medium-term commercial lifecycle approach.
- Contribute to training on procurement matters and build effective relationships across government departments.

- Proven experience in negotiating contract terms.

- MCIPS (Level 3+) or equivalent and Contract Management Capability Programme – Expert Level.

- Project management qualification (e.g., APM, PRINCE2, MSP).
