Role: QAT Engineer

Location: Remote, occasional travel to London may be required as and when requested by the project.

Duration: 12 Months

Day rate: £395 Umbrella Only

Clearance: 5 years unbroken UK residency required. Existing/transferrable clearance is preferred, but not essential.

About the Role

We are looking for a Junior Operational Acceptance Testing (OAT) Quality Engineer to join our technology delivery team. This role focuses on ensuring systems and services are operationally ready before going live, working closely with delivery, operations, and service management teams. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their testing or quality engineering career who enjoys working across testing, operations, and infrastructure, and who is keen to build broad technical experience in a live service environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, execute, and support Operational Acceptance Testing (OAT) activities for new and changed services
  • Validate operational readiness, including monitoring, supportability, and service management requirements
  • Work closely with service management, operations, and delivery teams to resolve defects and risks
  • Support testing of AWS-hosted applications and services
  • Verify monitoring, alerting, logging, and operational tooling is in place and fit for purpose
  • Assist with test documentation, reporting, and handover into operations
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of OAT processes and standards

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience or strong exposure to testing or quality assurance, ideally within OAT, SAT, or operational readiness testing
  • Understanding of service management and operational environments
  • Familiarity with AWS or cloud-hosted applications
  • Experience or working knowledge of monitoring tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, New Relic, or Elastic Stack (ELK)
  • Basic experience with Linux/system administration, Bash scripting, or automation tools such as Ansible
  • Ability to work collaboratively across technical and non-technical teams

Desirable Skills

  • Exposure to telecommunications technologies such as 4G, 5G, or LTE
  • Experience working in IT operations, production support, or service transition
  • Awareness of ITIL or service management practices
