As a Senior Project/Programme Manager, you will lead the delivery of large, complex IT and technology projects and programmes for our public sector and other clients. You will be responsible for managing high-visibility deliveries across the full project lifecycle, from initiation to end-to-end delivery, ensuring successful outcomes in dynamic, multi-supplier and matrix environments.
Hybrid working: The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.
Your role
- Lead the delivery of large and complex IT/technology projects and programmes across the full project lifecycle (end-to-end), ensuring delivery to agreed scope, quality, time, and budget.
- Provide strong leadership to multi-discipline and multi-supplier teams, motivating and guiding them to achieve high performance in matrix environments.
- Develop and maintain project/programme schedules, establish delivery rhythms, manage risks and dependencies, and proactively remove blockers.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including senior stakeholders, ensuring alignment and successful delivery.
- Drive continuous improvement and operational efficiency through agile delivery practices and lessons learned.
- Manage projects/programmes in line with budget(s), ensuring accurate forecasting, value delivery, and effective change control.
- Demonstrate commercial acumen, including developing commercial proposals and working with various contract types (e.g., Time & Materials, fixed price).
- Provide clear reporting and data to support communication with senior stakeholders and support decision-making.
- Ensure deliverables meet quality standards appropriate to their stage and are completed on time.
- Foster a productive, inclusive, and collaborative working environment that supports professional growth and innovation.
Your skills and experience
- Proven experience delivering IT/technology projects and programmes at a senior level, ideally within large and complex environments.
- Demonstrated ability to manage large and complex projects/programmes across the full project lifecycle and end-to-end delivery.
- Strong understanding of agile delivery practices, project/programme lifecycle management, and experience working in matrix and multi-supplier team environments.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including experience engaging with senior stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership in motivating and guiding multi-discipline and multi-supplier teams to achieve high performance.
- Experience managing projects/programmes in line with budget(s), ensuring accurate forecasting, value delivery, and effective change control.
- Demonstrate financial acumen, including P&L accountability and budget management.
- Proven ability to identify, assess, and proactively manage project and programme risks, implementing effective mitigation strategies and ensuring timely resolution of issues.
- Exceptional planning skills, with a proven ability to develop robust project and programme plans that align with organisational objectives and ensure successful delivery.
