About the Role
We are supporting a major UK-wide transformation programme modernising access control and digital infrastructure across government estates - introducing new cloud-based, secure, and scalable systems that enable interoperability across departments. We are looking for an experienced Solutions Architect to play a key role in this national digital initiative. You will design and implement secure, scalable cloud solutions aligned with government digital and security standards, influencing architectural best practices across the wider product ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement secure, scalable, and resilient cloud architectures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that meet strategic and operational objectives.
- Evaluate and optimise cloud infrastructure for performance, security, and cost efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with relevant government and cloud security standards.
- Lead technical architecture for complex migrations and integrations.
- Produce and maintain architectural documentation and technical roadmaps.
- Stay ahead of emerging cloud technologies and recommend adoption strategies.
Essential Experience
- Proven experience designing and implementing cloud-based solutions (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
- Strong grasp of architecture principles, automation tools, containerisation, and DevOps.
- Hands-on experience with Python, Java, or scripting languages.
- Deep understanding of security and compliance frameworks in complex environments.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Desirable
- Experience in Access Control Systems or identity/security domains.
- Relevant degree in Computer Science, IT, or similar.
Security Clearance:
You must be eligible to obtain SC (Security Check) clearance - this requires 5 years' continuous UK residency prior to application.
