Our client, a leading organisation in defence innovation, is hiring for a dedicated Associate Network Engineer to support critical Defence programmes at their Portsmouth site. This is an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology, supporting systems that enable the Army to operate effectively across all domains.
What you'll be doing:
- Installing, configuring, and maintaining computer hardware and software systems in the field.
- Responding to technical support calls from end users and resolving hardware, software, and network issues.
- Setting up new computers, networks, and applications, including updates and patches.
- Diagnosing and fixing network and hardware faults, maintaining inventories, and managing backups.
- Installing IT hardware across the world, including on Ministry of Defence exercises.
- Keeping accurate records of system changes and troubleshooting network connectivity issues.
- Working closely with project managers and technical leads to deliver system solutions on time and within budget.
- Willingness to undertake long periods away from home, including 4-6 week stays abroad.
What you'll bring:
- Demonstrable experience in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting IP networks, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), and core network infrastructure (routers, switches, firewalls).
- Knowledge of hierarchical IP subnetting, network architecture (Leaf and Spine), and firewall technologies.
- Working towards or holding a networking certification such as CCNP or similar.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly.
- A degree in Science, Engineering, or an equivalent professional qualification.
- Willingness to learn and develop expertise in a fast-paced environment.
