Job Title: Health and Safety Advisor Salary: £21.99 an hour Duration: 6 Months Location: Wattisham Airfield (Close to Ipswich) Headline We wish to appoint a Health and Safety Manager, (38 hrs a week) reporting to the Site Manager. First sentence The key accountabilities of the job holder will be as follows: Day-to-Day management and assurance of SHEF (Safety, Health, Environmental and Fire) arrangements. Report directly to the Commanding Officer if it is considered further measures are required to achieve compliance. Act as focal point for SHEF information. Maintain a SHEF Plan covering all the main SHEF management areas which encompasses local issues. Monitor all workplace and fire risk assessments for 7 Avn Sp Bn REME. Monitor the application of the detailed arrangements for compliance with legislative and MOD requirements. Act as the Secretary, write and circulate the minutes of the SHEF Committee. Conduct the annual SHEF audits on all areas, reporting findings and produce annual report on the overall standard. Who we're looking for: NEBOSH – National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety. Good knowledge of SHEF practices and procedures. Familiar with Military and/or MOD practices and procedures advantage but not necessary. Good interpersonal skills and Computer Literate. Has proven organisational skills Able to work on own initiatives with defined guidelines. Has excellent communication skills at all levels; verbal and written Has the ability to meet objectives.
