Requirements

  • Significant experience as a Data Architect within consulting or large, complex organisations.
  • Strong background in data modelling and design (e.g. dimensional modelling, data vault).
  • Experience designing Data Lake, Lakehouse and Data Mesh architectures.
  • Strong understanding of SQL databases and familiarity with columnar and NoSQL technologies.
  • Experience designing data pipelines (batch, streaming, hybrid) and end-to-end data flows.
  • Knowledge of data governance, data quality, metadata, catalogues and lineage (e.g. Collibra, Informatica).
  • Understanding of cloud and hybrid deployment models.
  • Proven experience working in multi-stakeholder, multidisciplinary environments.

Responsibilities

  • Define enterprise data architectures, including conceptual, logical and physical data models aligned to UK Government and international standards.
  • Assess current-state systems and data landscapes, and design target-state architectures and transition roadmaps.
  • Establish and apply data architecture principles, standards and patterns across programmes.
  • Provide architecture oversight and assurance to ensure solutions are secure, scalable, reliable and maintainable.
  • Lead or support data and AI proofs of concept, pilots and experiments.
  • Own and support data governance, including data quality, lineage, metadata and compliance.
  • Act as an escalation point for data quality, governance and regulatory issues.
  • Engage with senior business and technology stakeholders to translate business outcomes into data architecture solutions.
  • Mentor and lead junior Data Architects, Analysts and Engineers.
  • Contribute to consulting activities, including proposals, presentations and pre-sales support.
