We are supporting a large-scale digital transformation programme within a major UK public‑sector environment and have multiple Java engineering roles available across all levels, including:
- Lead Java Developer

Contract Overview
- Day Rate: £445‑£510 per day (Inside IR35)
- Duration: Until September 2026 minimum (potential to Jan 2027)
- Location: Remote‑first, occasional on‑site in Manchester or Newcastle (up to 2 days/week)
- Clearance: 5 Years UK Residency; Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship)
What You’ll Be Working On
You’ll join a multi‑disciplinary engineering function delivering modern, secure, scalable services used by millions across the UK. The work involves greenfield builds, legacy modernisation, API development and microservices at enterprise scale.
Core Technical Skills
- Strong experience with Java
- Frameworks: Spring/Spring Boot, Hibernate, Struts, JSF
- Microservices, APIs, and distributed systems
- Containerisation: Docker, Kubernetes
- Familiarity with Swagger/OpenAPI
- Agile ways of working
