We’re on the lookout for a hands-on Data Engineer to take ownership of a Microsoft Fabric + OneLake data platform and turn fragmented, unreliable source data into trusted, governed, analytics-ready datasets. This is a delivery-critical role for someone who enjoys stabilising messy data environments, getting to root cause fast, and building resilient, production-grade pipelines that can withstand frequent upstream change.
What you’ll be doing:
- Building and optimising transformations using Advanced SQL plus M-Query / Power Query
- Designing scalable semantic models to enable governed self-service analytics
- Setting up data quality controls (validations, reconciliations, checks) across all layers
- Creating monitoring / alerting / logging to detect issues early and reduce manual fixes
- Troubleshooting failures caused by schema drift / source changes and driving resolution with upstream owners
- Supporting governance and access controls, including Row-Level Security (RLS), lineage, documentation, and certification
What we need from you (non-negotiables):
- 4+ years Data Engineering experience, including 1–2+ years hands-on Microsoft Fabric
- Real project experience with Fabric + OneLake (not just training or POCs)
- Strong experience building production-grade pipelines end to end
- Strong SQL plus M-Query / Power Query transformation skills
- Proven ability to implement data quality checks and/or monitoring frameworks
- Comfortable working in messy data ecosystems with changing/broken upstream sources
- A proactive operator: independent, investigative, accountable, and able to drive problems through to closure
