We're supporting the delivery of a major high-integrity engineering programme across multiple secure UK sites, and are looking for experienced FPGA Design Engineers to join on a contract basis. This is a chance to contribute to the development of complex, real-time systems used in cutting-edge applications including avionics, radar, communications, and electronic defence platforms.
Contract Overview:
- Duration: 6-12 months (extensions highly likely)
- Location: Hybrid working - 2-3 days per week onsite across multiple UK engineering hubs
- IR35 Status: Outside IR35
- Security: SC clearance preferred (or eligible to obtain)
- Start Date: ASAP - interview slots available immediately
Key Responsibilities:
- Full lifecycle FPGA design using VHDL or Verilog
- Simulation and testbench development (ModelSim, Vivado, etc.)
- Integration and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across hardware, software, and systems engineering
- Design assurance and compliance with standards such as DO-254 or equivalent
- Contribute to technical documentation and design traceability in line with programme and regulatory needs
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Proven experience with VHDL (or Verilog) in high-reliability FPGA development
- Strong understanding of toolchains including Xilinx, Microsemi, or Intel/Altera
- Background in safety-critical, aerospace, defence, or secure systems environments
- Experience working within design assurance frameworks (DO-254 / DAL C or D)
- Familiarity with configuration, verification, and simulation methodologies
