This role requires candidates to hold or be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC). Due to the nature of the projects, you will need to be British. These projects are UK eyes only.
Are you building AI that actually matters? This isn't another POC role. We're looking for a Lead AI Architect to design and deliver production-grade AI systems for some of the UK's most high-profile public sector programmes — where the stakes are real, and the impact is measurable.
What you'll do:
- Architect end-to-end AI systems (GenAI and traditional ML) built for production, not the lab.
- Own the full technical lifecycle: model selection, deployment, MLOps, evaluation, and monitoring.
- Deploy across cloud platforms (AWS Bedrock, Azure AI Foundry, GCP) and self-hosted GPU infrastructure.
- Implement observability, security guardrails, and responsible AI frameworks from day one.
- Lead cross-functional engineering teams and translate client needs into clear technical roadmaps.
- Communicate with both engineers and senior stakeholders — and know when AI isn't the right answer.
What we're looking for:
- Proven track record delivering production AI/ML and GenAI at enterprise scale — real impact, not just prototypes.
- Expert Python with hands-on experience in PyTorch, TensorFlow, LangChain, LangGraph, RAG pipelines, and LLMs.
- Solid MLOps/LLMOps fundamentals: CI/CD for ML, model governance, and evaluation frameworks.
- Broad cloud experience across AWS, Azure, and GCP — cloud-agnostic candidates preferred.
- Background in a complex, regulated domain (public sector, defence, healthcare, or finance all relevant).
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- No minimum education requirement — we care about what you've shipped, not what's on your CV. Demonstrate your expertise through experience, open source contributions, or a strong project portfolio.
