Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Data Engineer to join our team. You will work closely with the Senior Data Engineer to clean, structure, and transform complex datasets that support environmental observation data, reference datasets, and metadata catalogs. Your efforts will be critical in enabling semantic processing and improving data quality across our projects.
What You’ll Do
- Clean and process tabular data from various sources including Excel, CSV files, and databases
- Build robust data transformation pipelines primarily using Python and pandas
- Write efficient SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and integrate relational data
- Implement data validation and quality assurance processes to ensure dataset accuracy and integrity
- Work with various data formats such as JSON, XML, and CSV
- Support metadata cataloging and reference data management initiatives
- Learn and apply RDF (Resource Description Framework) and semantic web concepts to support linked data initiatives
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to understand and refine data requirements
- Document pipelines, transformation scripts, and data quality reports

- Experience working with APIs to access and retrieve data

- Must hold an active SC (Security Check) clearance or be a British national eligible to obtain SC clearance
