We are seeking experienced Algorithm Engineers with a strong background in Digital Signal Processing (DSP), ideally applied within Radar, Acoustics, or Signal Intelligence (SIGINT/ELINT) environments. These positions support long-term Statements of Work (SoWs) within a leading UK defence prime, contributing to critical national security and surveillance systems.

You’ll be involved in the development of advanced signal processing algorithms across Radar, Acoustic, and electromagnetic domains, supporting both surface and sub-surface detection, tracking, and classification applications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and development of DSP algorithms for detection, tracking, classification, and extraction from Radar and Acoustic sources.
  • Signal analysis and interpretation across RF, sonar, and acoustic domains.
  • Modelling, simulation, and performance analysis using MATLAB, Python, or equivalent tools.
  • Integration of algorithms into embedded or real-time systems.
  • Close collaboration with systems, software, and hardware engineering teams.
  • Preparing technical documentation and participating in engineering reviews.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Proven experience in DSP algorithm development applied to Radar, Acoustic (including sonar or underwater acoustics), RF, or Listening systems.
  • Strong foundation in Mathematics, Physics, or Engineering with DSP applications.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Simulink, Python, or similar signal processing tools.
  • Experience working in defence, aerospace, or classified environments.
  • Understanding of real-time signal processing or embedded systems.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Desirable Experience:
  • Experience in sensor fusion, beamforming, target tracking, or classification algorithms.
  • Familiarity with C/C++, VHDL, or FPGA development for signal processing.
  • Domain knowledge of underwater acoustics, passive/active sonar, or acoustic surveillance.
  • Understanding of multi-domain sensing or sensor architecture.
Eligibility:
  • South West UK-based or able to attend site regularly as required.
  • Must hold or be eligible for UK SC Clearance.
  • Due to project sensitivity, sole British nationality may be a requirement.
Engagement Details:
  • Long-term SoW (initial 12 months+) with high likelihood of extension.
  • Flexible hybrid working, but some on-site presence expected depending on phase of work.
  • Engagement within a technically advanced, mission-focused environment.
  • Opportunity to work at the forefront of UK defence and surveillance technologies.
