Our client, a leading financial services organisation undergoing significant data transformation, is looking to appoint a Data Operations Manager to lead their Data Ops function and help shape the future of their data capabilities. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced data leader who enjoys improving operational processes, driving reliability, and mentoring technical teams.

As the Data Operations Manager, you’ll oversee a team of four Data Operations Engineers who are responsible for the end-to-end operational data pipeline across the business. You’ll be accountable for the health, reliability, and performance of data services, ensuring the business has accurate, timely, and trusted data.

This role offers a balance of BAU support and change/project work, with direct involvement in modernising the data estate, migrating towards Snowflake, and building improved monitoring and alerting capabilities. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders, shaping the direction of the data function and supporting key transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Data Operations team, fostering collaboration and high performance.
• Ensure robust delivery and maintenance of data products, pipelines, and services.
• Own pipeline and platform health, define SLAs, and drive rapid issue resolution.
• Provide 2nd- and 3rd-line SME support for operational and analytical data platforms.

• Establish proactive incident management processes, including root cause analysis.
• Support and balance BAU operations with ongoing change and transformation projects.
• Contribute to shaping the Group Data strategy and future operating model.
• Work on projects involving data movement, file transitions, and data platform improvements.
• Support the transition from legacy on-prem processes towards modern cloud tooling, including Snowflake.
• Strong understanding of data operations and end-to-end pipeline management.
• Experience leading and developing technical teams.
• Solid SQL and/or Python skills.
• Experience operating in cloud environments (AWS or Azure).
• Strong incident management and problem-solving ability.
• Excellent stakeholder management, able to set and manage SLAs effectively.
• Exposure to Snowflake, DBT, Fivetran, or MuleSoft (training offered).
