Role Purpose / Summary
User Researcher needed on One Login to support the Private & Public Beta Phase.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with Performance Analysts (PAs) to interpret performance data from various data sources (e.g. digital journey, support channels).
- Research design & experimentation.
- Design and run A/B tests and controlled experiments to evaluate service changes, in collaboration with the HMRC Experimentation team.
- Develop hypotheses, define success metrics, and ensure statistical validity.
- Build processes for integrating qualitative insights with quantitative findings.
- Champion triangulation to ensure robust, multi-source evidence for decision‑making.
- Produce concise weekly outputs and dashboards for senior stakeholders.
- Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for non‑technical audiences.
- Ensure compliance with GDS (Government Digital Service) standards and ethical research practices.
- Advocate for evidence‑based decision‑making across teams and departments.
Qualifications & Essential Skills
- Proven experience in quantitative research within a user‑centred design or public sector context.
- Experience working with Performance Analysts.
- Experience working on a service that operates on a national level and at scale.
- Ability to design and implement A/B experiments and interpret results confidently.
- Familiarity with qualitative research methods and integrating them into quantitative frameworks.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to produce clear, concise outputs for senior stakeholders.
