Overview

Platform Engineer — 6 Months — Rate £600 — Full time on site in Stevenage

Main Activities

The client has secured numerous new development contracts that have increased the workload & consequently the workload of the Software Resource & Capability Group. The group is key to designing, developing and supporting Engineering based Test Equipment software to test complex missile systems and sub-components. The work involves liaising with a wide range of teams and stakeholders across the client to deliver Test Engineering software capability of products from early concept to production. The work is centred in a Software Engineering office / lab environment engaging with test equipment and electronic circuitry. The TE Software Resource & Capability Group is looking to offload effort to support on-time delivery of product to our customers.

Required Capabilities

  • Development of software test solutions.
  • Writing software in C / C++ & C# and scripting languages.
  • If they have some Electronics/Embedded skills that would be desirable.
  • Working with tools such as Lab Windows CVI or Test stand.
  • Automation, continuous integration and DevOps principles and practices.
  • Communications and serial interfaces such as TFTP, Ethernet, RS232, RS422, RS485, Modbus, CAN and 1553 buses.
  • Electronics measurement and debugging techniques using equipment such as DVM's, oscilloscopes and spectrum analysers.
  • Creating high quality software and support of quality practices.
  • Articulation of the benefits of key software craftsmanship practices like unit testing, good design, TDD etc.
  • Working in an agile development team.
  • Communication / Collaboration.

Additional Considerations

May need to travel to other sites in the UK.
