The Virtualization Engineer will design, implement, and manage virtualization technologies and environments to optimize IT infrastructure and resource utilization. This role involves configuring and maintaining virtual machines, managing hypervisors, and ensuring the efficient operation of virtualized environments.
Key Responsibilities- Design, deploy, and manage virtualization solutions, including virtual machines and hypervisors.
- Monitor and optimize the performance of virtualized environments to ensure high availability and efficiency.
- Implement and maintain virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper‑V, KVM, Nutanix, OpenShift).
- Build/Rebuild new VMware ESX cluster environments using automation solutions to meet business requirements globally.
- Ability to quickly learn and implement VMware technology products and solutions and apply these skills rapidly and effectively using automation techniques.
- Experience in planning and implementing ESX Hardware evergreening activities on complex VMware environments which includes vendor management and coordination with data center teams.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to virtualization infrastructure, including performance and connectivity problems.
- Develop and implement backup, disaster recovery, and security strategies for virtual environments.
- Collaborate with IT teams to integrate virtualization solutions with existing systems and applications.
- Stay updated with virtualization technologies, best practices, and industry trends.
- Good knowledge on change management practices and able to raise quality changes.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Technical Skills- Solution design, performance tuning and implementing disaster recovery solutions.
- Deep expertise in core virtualization platform and storage solutions.
- Proficiency with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper‑V) and related tools.
- Deploy, configure and manage VMware, vSphere/vCenter, Hyper‑V and HCI platforms.
- Strong understanding of storage and virtual networking concepts.
- Experience with scripting and automation for managing virtual environment tasks using Python, PowerShell and automation tools like Ansible.
- VMware PowerCLI experience.
- Configuring HA & DRS clusters.
- HA/Failover configuration/troubleshooting.
- RDM management (including clustered VM guests).
- Monitor, troubleshoot and optimize virtualized environments for performance, capacity and resource efficiency.
- Experience on migration of VMs between multiple storage arrays.
- Work in coordination with the hardware and storage team to diagnose the cause and assist in resolving the issue.
