QA Engineer - Automation (API Testing)

Location: London (100% Remote)

Our Client is hiring for a reputed client. If you enjoy building reliable automation, tightening quality feedback loops and helping teams ship with confidence, this is a great opportunity to make quality part of everyday engineering.

What you'll be doing:

  • Design and evolve an automation approach across your product area (API, UI, contract, component and more)
  • Build, develop and maintain test automation frameworks and scripts
  • Integrate automation deeply into CI/CD pipelines, optimising parallel runs for deterministic, stable outputs
  • Investigate flaky tests, identify root causes, and drive reliability standards
  • Troubleshoot complex automation failures and recommend corrective actions
  • Provide meaningful reporting that highlights real risks, not just raw numbers
  • Review automation code and mentor junior/mid-level automation engineers
  • Create reusable components, utilities and libraries to improve efficiency and maintainability
  • Work with developers, product managers and DevOps engineers to ensure fast, stable, trustworthy releases
  • Support compliance and security alignment relevant to healthcare data systems (where applicable)

What you'll bring:

  • Proven experience designing and maintaining automation frameworks
  • Strong expertise in API testing and automation (automation desirable, or you can learn and support the team)
  • Solid programming skills in Java and Python
  • Hands-on CI/CD experience integrating automated tests into pipelines
  • Experience with SDLC/STLC and Agile methodologies
  • The ability to lead continuous improvement-making frameworks cleaner, faster, and easier for others to build on
  • Confidence reviewing automation code, spotting issues early, and promoting good test coding habits

Additional information:

  • Outside IR35
  • 3 months initially, with potential extensions if demand continues
  • Pay for your own BPSS
  • You can use your own laptop (any make/model)
