I'm currently recruiting for a client in the enterprise digital transformation space that requires 3 x Java Developers. Below I have detailed the requirements of the most senior position (tech lead) to help you fully understand their technology suite. The client is flexible around experience though due to the fact that they require 3 people to join the team, so should you feel you don't fully match the skill set below but are interested then it could still be suitable.

Please note you must be eligible for SC clearance; if you aren't eligible then you will be unable to be considered for these positions.

Job Summary

Day to day you will be a hands-on technical lead within an agile, multi-disciplinary team, working with developers, testers, agile leads, and product owners to deliver digital products and showcase technical excellence.

Key responsibilities

  • This is a hands-on role where you will be undertaking development alongside leading and guiding the development of your team, providing direction and oversight of the technical delivery for the digital products you are responsible for.
  • Actively working on Java and Angular codebase to implement new features and requirements working in partnership with the Product Owners and Architects.
  • Help establish and follow a set of engineering principles and best practices to ensure consistency and quality in the engineering process are upheld by efficiently and effectively completing code reviews and feedback to teams.
  • Assist with Service support during office hours – Identifying, locating and proactively fixing faults.
  • Provide mentoring and coaching of more junior members of staff to enhance and improve the team's capability.
  • Bring an energetic and proactive approach to tackling complex technical challenges, encouraging creative problem-solving and continuous learning within the team.

Skills Required

Essential

  • Hands on and current active technical experience of the following: AWS cloud services (ECR, ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB, Step Functions, Apigee)
  • Java (Springboot), AngularJS, Node 10, Typescript.
  • Tooling: Gitlab, Jenkins, Maven, Docker, Fortify on Demand or similar, SonarQube or similar
  • Cypress/Selenium, BDD-Gherkin – Karate / Cucumber, Jest
  • Demonstrable evidence of leading and mentoring teams, combined with strong stakeholder management and an ability to communicate effectively at all levels within an organisation.
  • Able to establish a series of best engineering practices and implementing them across multiple teams.

Desirable

  • Kotlin, Groovy, Bash, JavaScript, CloudFormation/Terraform
  • JBoss Drools, DMN, XML

Qualification

  • Graduate level education (or equivalent experience) in Computing, Computer Science, or equivalent subject
  • Essential: AWS Certified Solution Architect – Associate or AWS Certified Developer – Associate
  • Adept at leveraging automation to improve development processes and optimise software delivery.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking, capable of tackling complex technical challenges.
  • Deep understanding of software architecture, design patterns and best practices, with a focus on creating scalable, maintainable, and efficient systems.
