Join a leading UK Defence Prime delivering some of the most complex and safety-critical engineering programmes in the industry. We are looking for an experienced Product Safety Engineer to help ensure the safe delivery of advanced defence systems used in real-world operational environments. This role is based in Bristol, with a hybrid setup requiring 3 days per week onsite with highly skilled systems, hardware, software, and programme teams.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the safety life cycle across a range of cutting-edge defence projects, including:
- Developing and maintaining Product Safety Management Plans
- Conducting hazard identification, FMECA, FHA, FTA and other safety analyses
- Producing and reviewing Safety Cases and technical justification
- Working closely with engineering teams to ensure designs meet applicable safety standards
- Supporting compliance activities across the development and verification process
- Engaging with stakeholders, certifiers, and customers on safety matters

Qualifications
- Experience in Product Safety Engineering within defence, aerospace, or similarly regulated domains
- Knowledge of standards such as DEF-STAN 00-056, IEC 61508, ARP 4761, or equivalents
- Strong analytical mindset with experience in safety analysis techniques
- Ability to develop and maintain safety documentation and assurance evidence
- Confident communicator able to work with multidisciplinary engineering teams
- UK nationality required due to project security requirements
