The Boathouse Café sits right on the River Wey in the centre of Guildford. Opened in 2023, our venue is a fresh, vibrant space offering café dining, co‑working, private hire and a growing calendar of events. We are now looking for energetic, reliable and customer‑focused Events Assistants to support our busy events team. This role is ideal for someone seeking flexible, as‑required hours, whether you're looking to top up your income or prefer work that fits around your lifestyle. Most events take place evenings and weekends, including weddings, birthdays, corporate gatherings and private celebrations. Ideal candidates should be available to cover the following dates: 6.06, 13.06, 18.06, 19.06, 26.06, 4.07, 11.07, 17.07, 18.07, 22.08, 28.08 2026.
About You
- Experience in hospitality (cafés, restaurants, bars, hotels or events) is preferred, but we will consider applicants new to the industry who bring a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- You must have a friendly and professional manner, with a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences.
- A can‑do approach and the ability to work well in a fast‑paced environment are essential.
- Must be available late evenings.
Hourly Rate: Dependent on age and experience.
Job Responsibilities
- Welcome and greet guests with warmth and professionalism.
- Assist with setup and breakdown of event spaces, including tables, décor, portable event bars and equipment.
- Serve food and beverages efficiently during events.
- Prepare a range of hot and cold drinks when required.
- Handle customer queries and resolve any issues promptly and politely.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of event areas, bar stations and the kitchen.
- Support with washing dishes and cleaning kitchen equipment.
- Follow all food safety, hygiene and health & safety procedures.
- Process payments or assist at event bars as required.
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages to the manager.
- Assist with stock counts, restocking and organising supplies.
- Complete required daily, weekly and monthly Alert 65 checks.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time. Part-time hours: 10–25 per week.
