The Role: Retail Assistant
As a Retail Assistant, you will be part of a highly motivated team, providing the highest standards of service to guests in our onsite gift shop. This will involve performing routine cleaning tasks such as cleaning, re-stocking and using our till systems. It is expected our Retail Assistants will take pride in their work, enjoy working as part of a team as well as under their own initiative, and thrive in a busy, hands-on environment.
This is a seasonal role working 28 hours per week.
Your weekly shifts would be:
- Tuesday 11.00am – 7.30pm
- Wednesday: 12.00pm – 7.30pm
- Thursday: 11.00am – 7.30pm
- Sunday 10.30am – 3.30pm
Key Responsibilities:
- Serving customers (mainly school age children) in our on-site shop in the manor house (you are not expected to work in the bar).
- Regularly clean and re-stock our gift shop and bar.
- Physical tasks such as putting away deliveries, lifting and moving sometimes heavy boxes of drinks and merchandise.
- Being on your feet for a large part of the day, including using stairs.
- Handling money including cashing-up your own till.
- Performing monthly stock checks.
- Ensuring all health and safety procedures are effectively adhered to.
Teamwork Guest Experience
- Work efficiently during the season, including our busy peak-season periods.
- Support other departments when required to ensure smooth operation across the site.
- Contribute to creating a welcoming and positive environment for all guests.
Essential Skills Experience
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards.
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, responsible, and willing to learn new skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically active role.
- Previous experience in retail and/or customer service is desirable but not essential.
- This role is open to those aged 18 years and over.
