The Role: Maintenance Assistant
As Maintenance Assistant, you’ll provide hands‑on practical support across the site, ensuring the safety and upkeep of Condover Hall’s buildings, grounds, and facilities. You’ll work both independently and as part of the wider operations team, contributing to the smooth running of the centre and the safety of our guests and staff.
Key responsibilities:
- Site maintenance & repairs to include painting & decorating.
- Investigate and resolve maintenance issues reported by guests or staff.
- Carry out repairs and upkeep to a high standard, prioritising safety and compliance.
- Support external contractors working on site projects.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and workspaces to ensure readiness and safety.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety legislation and JCA standards.
- Contribute to risk assessments and safety checks across the site, providing accurate records.
- Report hazards, incidents, and required works promptly.
- Participate in training including Health & Safety and Safeguarding.
Teamwork & Communication
- Liaise with colleagues and other departments to coordinate maintenance needs.
- Provide updates on ongoing projects and suggest areas for future attention.
- Work collaboratively with the wider operations team to support centre delivery.
Customer Engagement
Ensure guests and staff enjoy a safe, well‑maintained environment by responding promptly and professionally to maintenance‑related queries and contributing positively to their overall experience during their stay.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Strong maintenance background (formal qualifications are a bonus but not essential).
- Comfortable with painting & decorating on a large scale.
- Experience in similar settings such as schools or activity centres is desirable.
- Ability to manage time effectively and work independently.
- Responsible and conscientious approach to health and safety.
- Full UK driving licence.
