The Role: Breakfast Chef
As a Breakfast Chef, you’ll support our catering team in preparing and serving meals for guests and staff. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced chef looking to work part‑time hours in a busy, professional kitchen environment. You’ll work closely with our Head Chef and the wider JCA catering team to ensure every meal is prepared safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Food Preparation & Service
- Prepare and cook breakfast and other meals in accordance with menu plans and dietary requirements.
- Support the set‑up and smooth running of meal services for guests and staff.
- Maintain portion control and presentation standards across all dishes served.
- Kitchen Hygiene & Safety
- Ensure all kitchen areas, utensils, and equipment are kept clean and hygienic.
- Follow all food hygiene, allergen, and safety procedures at all times.
- Store, rotate and label food correctly in line with HACCP requirements.
- Team Support
- Work alongside the kitchen team to ensure smooth service and efficient operations.
- Contribute to a positive team atmosphere with a proactive and supportive attitude.
- Assist with unpacking and storing deliveries when required.
- Customer Experience
- Help deliver a high standard of catering that enhances the overall guest experience.
- Be friendly and approachable when interacting with guests and colleagues.
- Support with special dietary or allergy requests under the supervision of the Head Chef.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience as a chef in a busy kitchen environment (e.g., breakfast, hotel, events or large‑scale catering).
- Experience in a large catering environment is desirable.
- Strong understanding of food hygiene standards and allergens.
- Punctual, reliable, and able to work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
- Good communication skills and a team‑focused approach.
- A strong work ethic and attention to detail.
