Job Description
We are looking for an experienced and people-focused Lead Operational Risk Manager to lead a team of Risk Specialists across the UK&I business. This is a pivotal leadership role in which you will strengthen our risk posture, embedding a robust risk culture, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Your role will involve strategic oversight, operational risk management, and programme delivery with a strong emphasis on team leadership and development.
You will lead a high-performing team of risk professionals, driving the operational risk agenda and delivering complex change initiatives that enhance the business\’s resilience and control environment. You\’ll help shape our risk culture, ensure regulatory compliance, and embed risk-aware practices across the business.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of operational risk specialists, providing coaching, performance management, and career development support.
- Oversee risk management across both B2B and B2C business lines, ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations and internal frameworks.
- Develop and execute operational risk strategy, frameworks, and governance across the wholesale banking division.
- Deliver enterprise-wide change programmes, managing interdependent projects and ensuring risk-aligned outcomes.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders across Risk, Compliance, IT, Transformation, and Business Units to embed risk into the change lifecycle.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in operational risk and change management within a regulated financial services environment.
- People leadership and line management experience, with experience developing successful teams.
- Deep understanding of risk frameworks, governance structures, and regulatory compliance (including Consumer Duty and Enterprise Risk Management).
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex programmes and deliver change at scale.
- Strategic approach with a hands-on approach to delivery and risk mitigation.
- Familiarity with technology delivery, project lifecycle management, and risk-based prioritisation.
