Overview
We\βre looking for a User Researcher to join our Consumer Services function at Experian. You\βll join a small but perfectly formed User Research team, playing an important role in shaping the user experience across two of our product domains. You\βll help us understand our customers deeply and make evidence-based decisions. Working in-house as part of a cross-functional product team, you\βll collaborate closely with designers, product managers, and engineers to plan and run research that drives meaningful impact from early discovery through to post-launch evaluation. You\βll report into our Lead User Researcher and be supported to grow your craft, stretch your thinking, and help define what great research is at Experian.
What you\βll do
- Partner with designers and product managers to identify research opportunities.
- Plan and conduct research using a mix of methodologies, from usability testing and in-depth interviews to diary studies and concept testing.
- Balance generative and evaluative research to uncover needs, validate ideas, and inform product strategy.
- Apply lean research principles, delivering just enough insight, at the right time, to move teams forward with confidence.
- Synthesise findings into clear, actionable insights that connect directly to product outcomes and business goals.
- Champion the voice of the customer across teams, helping others see how research drives impact.
- Help evolve our research practice, operations, tools, and ways of working across domains.
- Proven in-house user research experience within a product team (not just agency or consultancy experience).
- Proven expertise in usability testing, both moderated and unmoderated, including planning, facilitation, and analysis.
- Hands-on experience with qualitative methods such as moderated and unmoderated interviews, diary studies, card sorts.
- The ability to clearly demonstrate how your research influenced product decisions and outcomes.
- Comfort with end-to-end research, from discovery and framing problems to testing and measuring impact.
- The ability to tailor your approach to context: balancing rigour with speed, depth with efficiency.
- Strong storytelling and ability to tailor communication style to suit the audience.
- A collaborative mindset: you enjoy working closely with designers, PMs, and engineers, and you know how to bring them along on the journey.
