Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic Software Engineer to work at the forefront of our cloud modernisation, within our Credit & Verification Services. This is a hybrid role requiring travelling to Nottingham 2 days a week. Credit and Verification Services currently comprises nearly 100 engineering teams who deliver over 200 products, achieving significant revenue per annum for our UK business. Our architecture is built on Kubernetes (EKS), enabling us to run scalable, resilient microservices in the cloud. We leverage a wide range of AWS services (Lambda, Kinesis, DynamoDB, RDS, etc.) to enhance performance, observability, and integration across our platform, placing a strong emphasis on quality and automation.
Responsibilities
- Work as a software developer in an agile team to provide high‑quality software solutions within agreed timelines, ensuring alignment with business requirements and agile principles.
- Translate requirements into clean, scalable code with minimal defects.
- Collaborate closely with cross‑functional team members to design, test, and release features.
- Participate in continuous integration, continuous delivery, and continuous improvement processes.
- Follow DevSecOps practices throughout the development lifecycle, leveraging static code analysis and security scan tools.
- Provide concise documentation for code, processes, and system architecture to facilitate knowledge sharing and maintainability.
Qualifications & Experience
- Hands‑on experience with .NET 6+ (or .NET Core / .NET Framework) building scalable, maintainable and performant REST/SOAP/RPC APIs with microservice or SOA architectures using ASP.NET and proficiency in C#.
- Experience building secure, mission‑critical, high‑volume transaction web‑based software systems in regulated environments.
- Proficiency in writing high‑quality unit and integration tests using xUnit or NUnit, with experience in Test‑Driven Development (TDD) and Behaviour‑Driven Development (BDD).
- Experience with mocking frameworks to ensure test reliability and alignment with acceptance criteria.
- Familiarity with clean architecture, SOLID principles, and design patterns.
- Experience with any NoSQL or SQL databases.
- Knowledge of containers and Docker.
- Working knowledge of source control, preferably Git (e.g., Bitbucket, GitHub, GitLab).
- Fundamental knowledge of CI & CD.
Preferred Skills
- Experience using GEN AI tools for coding.
- Knowledge of Python/Scala or big‑data frameworks (e.g., Spark).
- Experience working in an agile team using Scrum or Kanban.
- Experience with Domain‑Driven Design, Event‑Driven Architecture.
- Experience with streaming, messaging, or event‑bus technologies.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or CDK.
- Experience with static code quality analysis tools and vulnerability management.
