Vacancy Type: Permanent, Hours: Full Time (37.5h p/w)

Key Responsibilities

  • Work on a wide range of projects, from city‑wide masterplans through to parks and public realm projects including educational, arts and leisure, commercial and residential developments.
  • Technical design of key infrastructure systems including water, flood mitigation, drainage, highways and utilities.
  • Digital design and systems optimisation tools such as parametric earth movement modelling and information systems and 3D modelling.
  • Site analysis including hydrology, utilities, ground condition and environmental conditions.
  • Defining briefs, developing strategies and undertaking feasibility studies in response to client needs.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 6-9 years post‑graduation design experience.
  • Strong analysis, engineering design and communication skills.
  • Sound technical base with knowledge of relevant infrastructure standards and ability to adapt to international standards.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Experience negotiating with technical stakeholders such as the Environment Agency, local flood authorities and water undertakers.
  • Experience producing accurate, high‑quality drawings.
  • Strong IT skills, interpreting and working with maps, plans and drawings.
  • Experience with design software used in infrastructure projects (e.g. Autodesk Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Revit, InfoDrainage, GIS, etc.).
  • Awareness of BIM and its application on projects.
  • Good understanding of sustainable development practice.
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a multidisciplinary team, taking responsibility for the quality of work.
  • Ability to liaise directly with clients, architects and other parties in a project’s professional team.
  • Confidence in communication and adaptability to specific situations.

Preferred Technical Skills

  • Experience of 3D parametric modelling such as Rhino / Grasshopper.
  • Experience of design software used in energy and environmental analysis (e.g. IES VE, JPA SAP, Ladybug, Honeybee, DIVA, EnergyPlus).
  • Experience in environmental design of buildings.

Professional Qualifications

  • BSc/BEng (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status and membership of an appropriate professional body (e.g. ICE, CIWEM or similar).
