You will leverage advanced data and AI/ML capabilities, rigorous market and competitive analysis, and strong customer empathy to define product strategy, prioritize roadmaps, and drive measurable business impact.

Experience:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, or equivalent practical experience

Functional / Technical Skills:

  • AI / ML concepts and their application in products
  • Data science principles and experimentation (A/B testing, hypothesis-driven development)
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Active listening and stakeholder management
  • Scientific method and problem decomposition
  • Ability to reverse engineer complex systems and flows
  • Business acumen and commercial mindset (P&L, pricing, and unit economics awareness)
  • Influencing without authority
  • Appropriate, calculated risk-taking

Role Expectations:

  • Product Strategy & Vision: Organizes a clear strategic vision for travel protection / assurance products that solves both short-term and long–term traveler, partner, and business needs.
  • Takes a lead role in detailing a multi-quarter roadmap, articulating key themes, milestones, and trade-offs through a compelling narrative that resonates across senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Applies a strong understanding of Expedia Group’s structure, platforms, and key stakeholders to identify dependencies, align strategies, and unlock scaled impact for protection products.
  • Balances short-term optimization with long-term differentiation, partnering with finance to set, track, and iterate on revenue and margin targets for the protection portfolio.
  • Drives innovation within the protection portfolio, exploring new use cases, benefit structures, and experiences that increase customer confidence and attachment.

Customer, Market & Commercial Insight:

  • References detailed market research and competitive analysis (customer segmentation, market sizing, insurance / assurance landscape, partner needs) to inform strategy and roadmap.
  • Clearly defines the value proposition of travel protection products by grounding decisions in customer pain points, risk scenarios, and behavioral insights.
  • Develops testable hypotheses that link industry and regulatory trends, protection attach / uptake, and performance outcomes; uses experimentation to validate direction.
  • Identifies friction in the traveler journey (from discovery through post-trip servicing) and recommends customer-centric product and UX solutions to increase understanding, trust, and conversion for protection products.

Data, Experimentation & AI/ML:

  • Facilitates integration of AI/ML into product functionality (for example, risk-based recommendations, personalization, pricing support, or servicing flows) by leveraging an understanding of model development (data collection and processing, model training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring).
  • Independently designs product experiments, gathers and analyzes product data, draws insights, and makes informed decisions; engages Data Analytics teams where deeper analysis is needed.
  • Defines new metrics, dashboards, and data sources to monitor the health of travel protection products (e.g., attach rate, conversion, claims‑related signals, NPS/CSAT), and drives regular metric reviews that lead to concrete actions.

Execution & Delivery:

  • Leverages understanding of technical architecture (checkout, payments, partner and supplier systems, servicing, compliance) to ensure protection products meet requirements and scale reliably; adapts designs as dependencies evolve.
  • Effectively prioritises initiatives and features for protection products using a data-informed framework that incorporates business impact, risk, customer value, and effort.
  • Owns product requirements documentation (PRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria) leveraging Expedia Group’s standard toolkit; ensures clarity, completeness, and alignment to outcomes.
  • Collaborates closely with engineering to break down user stories, identify and manage dependencies, and ensure predictable delivery against roadmap commitments.
  • Facilitates alignment between engineering, design, operations, and partner teams by ensuring product goals and success measures are clearly articulated and visually represented.
  • Creates and interprets product experiments in partnership with UX and data teams to refine messaging, packaging, and UX of protection products.

Stakeholder Leadership & Communication:

  • Develops the ability to influence without formal authority, earning trust with peer leaders, functional partners, and external stakeholders.
  • Encourages the team to achieve operational excellence, acting as a motivating and stabilising force during planning, delivery, and incident response.
  • Communicates effectively up, down, and across the organization, using data, insights, and storytelling to tailor messages to executives, cross-functional partners, and regional stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates a proven track record of clearly and persuasively articulating product concepts, strategies, and decisions to cross-functional teams and, where appropriate, to partners and customers.
