Introduction to Team:

Expedia Technology teams partner with our Product teams to create innovative products, services, and tools to deliver high-quality experiences for travelers, partners, and our employees. A singular technology platform powered by data and machine learning provides secure, differentiated, and personalized experiences that drive loyalty and traveler satisfaction.

This User Experience Researcher III – Mixed Methods role is part of our Traveler Experience Design team, which is responsible for crafting meaningful traveler experiences at scale. As a UX Researcher III, you will independently lead research initiatives, manage global stakeholders across time zones, and contribute to a culture of curiosity, rigor, and human-centered design. This role requires strong expertise in both qualitative and quantitative methods, with a particular emphasis on advanced survey design and statistical analysis.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and execute mixed-methods research studies with minimal supervision, integrating qualitative and quantitative approaches to uncover user needs and behaviors.

  • Design and analyze large-scale surveys using advanced techniques such as conjoint analysis, max-diff, and other discrete choice methods.

  • Select and apply appropriate research methods based on the question at hand, balancing speed, rigor, and impact.

  • Communicate insights clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences, tailoring content and format to meet stakeholder needs.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape product strategy and advocate for user-centered solutions.

  • Mentor junior researchers and contribute to team knowledge-sharing and best practices.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Master’s or PhD in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Human Factors, Psychology, or a related field—or equivalent experience.

  • Advanced proficiency in R or Python for data analysis and visualization (R experience preferred).

  • Intermediate proficiency in SQL.

  • Extensive experience in mixed-methods research, with a strong foundation in both qualitative techniques (e.g., interviews, usability testing) and quantitative methods (e.g., survey design, statistical modeling).

  • Intermediate to expert-level experience with Qualtrics or other survey platforms (Qualtrics highly preferred).

  • Proficiency in fielding site intercepts is strongly desired.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, global environment and managing stakeholders across multiple time zones.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable insights.

  • Passionate about inclusive design and committed to supporting diverse teams.

  • Highly organized, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
