The Traveler Business Team has a mission to deliver the most convenient, rewarding, and memorable ways for people to travel and explore the world. This division has responsibility to build and drive the growth of our global consumer business across our Expedia, Hotels.com, Vrbo, and Portfolio brands, and across all our lines of businesses including Hotels, Vacation Rentals, Air, Car, Packages, and Insurtech.

We are looking for a Strategy Director tojoin Hotels.com at Expedia Group to define the brand’s strategy for Unmanaged Business Travelers (UBT). You will play a critical role inshaping Hotels.com’s strategy,which is one of the largest brands in the Expedia portfolio with a fiercely loyal customer base.You will report to Hotels.com Head of Strategy.
As an individual contributor, you willplay an integral role developing the strategic direction as well as monitoring, synthesizing, and optimizing financial performance.You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to contribute to setting revenue targets and ensure alignment with our global business goals and objectives.
In this role, you will:
Strategy Development:Play a key role in defining & operationalizing key short, medium, and long-term UBT strategic initiatives to improve the consumer performance and competitive positioning, while working with senior executives across the organization
Evaluate strategic UBT opportunitiesand develop perspective on implications and actions for the traveler:
Monitor the UBT ecosystem to identify market trends
Identify business / value driver opportunities and risks
Assess strategic options and work critical stakeholders to develop the business case
Communicate findings to senior stakeholders, build buy-in
Own end-to-end process from inception through market activation of prioritized UBT strategic initiatives
Financial Planning: Partner with finance on annual financial planning processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis ensuring alignment per the brand’s needs
Data-Driven Decision Making: Leverage data analytics to drive informed business decisions
Performance Metrics: Regularly evaluate performance against targets against established financial KPIs
Global Alignment: Foster consistency and alignment across diverse markets
Experience and qualifications:
10+ yearsof progressive experience in strategy and developing new businesses / products in (unmanaged) business traveler and / or SMB space
Experience developing business strategies:
Think long-term, anticipate market trends, and adapt to changing business landscapes
Identify and evaluate key market trends, opportunities, and risks
Develop business case leveraging analysis in an ambiguous and fast paced environment
Establish cross-functional plan to bring strategy to life
Experience setting up new business or product (e.g., entrepreneur, start-up, managed new business / product launch):
Own process from inception through market activation
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Marketing, Product, Analytics, Finance) to bring new business to life
Demonstrate ability to turn strategy into business results and drive growth
Experience within (unmanaged) business traveler and / or SMB space
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
