Role Summary
A high performing individual contributor who consistently applies – and sometimes enhances – the analytics capabilities, principles and playbooks to solve complex business issues and opportunities. Operates largely independently and mentors more junior colleagues.

We are seeking an experienced Product Analyst to join our Product Analytics & Experimentation Team to partner with product managers and focus on user experience optimization. As a Data Scientist III, you will support critical business decisions throughout the product development lifecycle that improve the user experience for millions of travelers. Your role will involve uncovering customer friction points, opportunity sizing, identifying new success measures, hypothesis generation and prioritization, experimentation design or other measurement frameworks, impartial analysis, and recommendations. If you are a self-starter and have shown success in using analytics to drive innovation and user engagement, this position is for you!

What You’ll Do:

  • Apply your expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, ML programming, data visualization with a goal of improving customer experience.
  • Own end to end process in designing and running complex experiments (A/B tests, Pre-Post, Interleaving), proactively see opportunities and recommend new features for test and learn.
  • Collaborate across the analytics community to define how we embed new metrics and methodologies into our experimentation culture.
  • Lead key strategic projects within the shopping experience to support goal setting, opportunity sizing, product performance review and ultimately EG product strategy.
  • Work with multiple stakeholders, manage product analytics projects, and operate within a community of analysts, sharing findings, wins and methodologies.
  • As one of the most senior individual contributors in the team, raise the bar in prescriptive and predictive insights across product analytics, leading by examples and coaching more junior analysts.
  • Influence action and results, through clear writing, in an accessible way for a wide audience. Structure presentations around a clear and concise narrative, present clearly and engagingly, anticipating questions.

Who You Are:

  • Excellent logical thinking, a very strong background (Bachelor’s/Master’s degree) in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, physics, engineering, data science or similar and 5+ years of experience in industry or equivalent.
  • Expert with Python, Scala or R, or any other major machine learning programming language.
  • Expert in statistical analysis and experimentation, pre-post analysis, segmentation, optimization techniques and interpretation of machine learning models such as propensity modelling and forecasting techniques.
  • High performing and influential individual contributor who leads by example while continuing to mentor junior data scientists, interfaces consistently with product & tech leaders, and leads complex and vaguely defined projects.
  • Creative and analytical in thinking with a love for data, picking analytically valid approaches favouring iterative delivery that solves for the objective, not the ask.
  • Ability to manage projects with different functions (product, strategy, engineering, etc.), prioritize among conflicting demands and be comfortable with ambiguity.
  • Excellent verbal, written and data visualization skills.
