Traveler & Partner Service Platform delivers services that differentiates Expedia Group in the travel marketplace for our Partners and Travelers, along with building tools that support human agents of all types.
Introduction to team:
The Data Scientist I role sits in the Traveler and Service Partner (TPSP) Analytics team, this team provides operational analytics and data science solutions for traveler support interactions, focusing on improving service delivery and enhancing the customer experience. In this role, you will tackle sophisticated analytical business challenges, with a focus on applying statistics and data analytics to improve operations and service efficiency. You will drive change by generating actionable insights, improving the experience of millions of travelers and travel partners each year.
In this role you will:
Collaborate with stakeholders & domain experts to understand business needs, define project goals, and align data analysis approaches.
Lead analytical projects, defining, building, and refining models that offer valuable insights into business challenges.
Apply statistical techniques (e.g., regression, ANOVA, A/B testing) and machine learning concepts to deliver insights that drive change.
Create clear and effective data visualizations (preferably using Tableau), tailoring insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Leverage and contribute to a best-in-class analytical toolkit to extract insights and make data-driven recommendations.
You have a Bachelors or Master’s degree in a technical or numerical discipline, such as Data Science, Engineering, Statistics or a related field, or equivalent related professional experience
You are proficient in in SQL language, with experience in writing complex queries and working with large datasets
You have a solid foundation in data science and statistical techniques (e.g., regression, A/B testing, hypothesis testing), along with experience in Python for building data science models,
You have solid business acumen, making connections between data and insights
You are an excellent communicator, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner to a range of stakeholders (including Director-level)
Knowledge in visualization tools like Tableau is preferred but not essential
