The Research Associate is responsible for performing antibody conjugation to various labels and subsequent purification using established protocols, in alignment with budget constraints and customer demand. This position reports to the Senior Scientist and is part of the Conjugation Development Platform Team within Research and Development, located in Cambridge, UK and will be an on‑site role.
In This Role, You Will Have The Opportunity To:
- Learn and perform antibody conjugations using advanced technologies and assist in evaluating product quality using techniques such as HPLC, FPLC (AKTA), and spectroscopy.
- Prepare buffers and reagents, contribute to lab housekeeping, and ensure accurate documentation in line with SOPs and ISO9001:2015 standards.
- Communicate effectively with team members, contribute to process improvements, and support cross‑functional coordination for downstream activities.
The Essential Requirements Of The Job Include:
- Degree (e.g., Masters) in Biology, Chemistry or Biochemistry from an accredited higher education institute.
- Awareness and understanding of technical principles, literature, and methodologies in protein conjugation chemistry.
- Protein purification techniques (Affinity, SEC, IEX).
- Quality control methods such as ELISA, SDS‑PAGE, Western Blot (WB), and imaging applications.
- Proven laboratory experience with a high level of attention to detail and consistent compliance with SOPs.
- Demonstrates a flexible mindset and ability to adapt to shifting priorities and customer demands.
Desirable But Not Essential:
- Experience of working in an R&D role in industry, e.g. through an industrial placement.
- Previous hands‑on experience with general laboratory practices, including familiarity with standard operating procedures, routine maintenance of lab equipment, and adherence to safety protocols.
