Position Overview: We are hiring a HGV Class 1 Driver to join our growing team. The role is general haulage, delivering a variety of loads including palletised goods, ambient food products, timber and paper. Full training on specific load types can be provided where required. We take great pride in delivering excellent customer service, so we’re looking for professional, friendly and approachable drivers who represent our business positively at all times.
Shift Pattern: We recognise that life outside of work is important. As part of our commitment to supporting flexible working, wellbeing and a healthy work-life balance, we offer part-time Driver opportunities working 2, 3 or 4 days per week. Our preferred shift pattern is Friday + Saturday, but we can be flexible on the days worked between Monday and Saturday (days or tramping/nights out).

Salary: We offer competitive hourly rates with enhanced weekend pay (paid monthly):
- Monday–Friday: £15.03 per hour
- Saturday: £16.53 per hour
- Sunday: £17.53 per hour
Additional payments:
- Early start payment: £12.76 per shift (Paid if your shift starts at 03:00 or earlier, as requested by the traffic office)
- Night-out allowance: £26.20 (tax-free)
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a HGV Class 1 vehicle
- Deliver and collect goods according to planned routes and schedules
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects promptly
- Ensure loads are secure and transported safely
- Complete delivery paperwork and digital records accurately
- Comply with EU/UK drivers’ hours, tachograph, and Working Time Directive rules
- Maintain cleanliness and roadworthiness of the vehicle
- Communicate effectively with transport planners, customers, and depot staff
Role Requirements:
- Full UK Driving Licence with C+E entitlement
- Digital tachograph card
- Driver Qualification Card (CPC)
- Flexibility to work Monday to Saturday
- No more than 6 penalty points (certain endorsements not accepted, e.g. DR)
- Minimum age of 22 (insurance requirements)
