Position Overview
We are hiring a HGV Class 1 Driver to join our team on the night shift.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods to various locations.
Being a Class 1 Driver requires strong communication skills, a valid commercial driving licence, and a commitment to maintaining high safety standards while on the road.
Shift Pattern: Monday-Friday //19:00-05:00 Salary: £44,492.50 (paid monthly) Contract Type: Permanent Location: CO7 7JW (Colchester)
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a HGV Class 1 vehicle
- Deliver and collect goods according to planned routes and schedules
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects promptly
- Ensure loads are secure and transported safely
- Complete delivery paperwork and digital records accurately
- Comply with EU/UK drivers hours, tachograph, and Working Time Directive rules
- Maintain cleanliness and roadworthiness of the vehicle
- Communicate effectively with transport planners, customers, and depot staff.
- Role Requirements
- Valid HGV Class 1 licence (minimum of 6 months experience is required)
- Valid Driver CPC qualification
- Digital tachograph card
- . No more than 6 penalty points on your driving licence
- Good knowledge of road safety and transport regulations
- Strong time management and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and responsibly
- Good geographical knowledge or ability to use navigation systems
- Physically fit and able to handle manual tasks where required
