Post Title: SEND Teacher General Subjects

Salary: £31,650 to £43,607 (QTS Status) Spine point dependent on experience. ECT’s will be considered for this post.
Work Pattern: FTE (37.5 hrs per week)

Role Purpose
The SEND General Subjects Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality, personalised education to students aged 11–16 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The role aims to ensure that all students, regardless of their starting point, are supported to engage with learning, develop functional skills, emotional regulation, independence and positive attitudes to education.
The post holder will plan and deliver engaging, differentiated and accessible learning across a range of curriculum areas, informed by Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). The role is particularly suited to teachers with a primary background who are confident teaching across the curriculum and adapting learning for pupils working significantly below age-related expectations.
Through a trauma-informed, inclusive and student-centred approach, the teacher will foster positive relationships, promote behaviour for learning, and work closely with teaching assistants, therapists and the wider multidisciplinary team to remove barriers to learning and support progress in all its forms.

Teaching & Learning
· Plan, deliver and evaluate high-quality, engaging and differentiated lessons across a range of curriculum areas.

Assessment, Progress & Outcomes
· Assess, monitor and record student progress using formative and summative assessment appropriate to a SEND setting.
· Set aspirational yet realistic targets aligned to EHCP outcomes.
· Contribute to annual reviews, progress reviews and multi-agency meetings.
· Provide clear and accurate reports to parents/carers and senior leaders.
· Contribute to parents’ evenings and whole-school events.
Behaviour, Wellbeing & Safeguarding
· Implement the school’s behaviour policy consistently using positive behaviour support and de-escalation strategies.
· Support students’ emotional wellbeing through trauma-informed practice.
· Act as a safeguarding role model and follow all safeguarding and child protection procedures.
· Maintain high expectations for behaviour, inclusion and student dignity at all times.
Working with Others
· Work collaboratively with teaching assistants to plan, deliver and adapt learning.
· Liaise with SLT, SENCOs, pastoral teams, therapists and external professionals.
· Build positive, professional relationships with families and carers.
· Contribute to whole-school planning, review and development.
Professional Responsibilities
· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of SEND and inclusive teaching practice.
· Engage in continuous professional development and reflective practice.
· Contribute to curriculum development and resource creation.
· Fulfil all professional duties in line with the Teachers’ Standards and school policies.
· Carry out any other reasonable duties as directed by the Headteacher.
Supplementary Duties
· Candidates will be required to act as a form tutor.
· Candidates will be expected to deliver whole-school assemblies related to a variety of themes.
· Candidates will be expected to contribute to whole-school events when requested.
· Candidates will be expected to attend meetings, parents’ evenings and educational visits as required.
