About The Role

Expanded, part of Laing O'Rourke, is delivering the A47/A11 Thickthorn Junction Bridges project. We are looking to strengthen our Health, Safety & Wellbeing team to support safe and effective site delivery. As a Senior Health, Safety & Wellbeing Adviser, you'll work closely with site teams and leaders to promote a positive safety culture, taking a people‑focused approach through Rethinking Safety Through Inclusion & Wellbeing. Reporting to the Senior Health & Safety Manager, the role offers a strong opportunity for development within a major infrastructure project.

You'll Do

  • Champion and actively deliver the Rethinking Safety Through Inclusion & Wellbeing approach.
  • Support proactive assurance activities aligned to project risk profiles.
  • Facilitate collective insights sessions, appreciative enquiries and positive investigations to understand how success is created.
  • Facilitate Fatal & Severe Risk Assessments and contribute to risk assurance activities.
  • Help operational teams explore work as imagined vs. work as done.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships that encourage open dialogue about safety.
  • Support leaders to build soft skills—listening, openness, collaboration and curiosity.
  • Promote innovation and support adoption of new methods, technologies and systems.
  • Assist with incident investigations and help the team embed meaningful learning.
  • Act as a contact point for communication with enforcement bodies when required.
  • Support monitoring, improvement and reporting of safety maturity goals.

What You Bring

  • Level 4 qualification (minimum) in Health & Safety.
  • Strong technical knowledge of occupational health, safety and wellbeing.
  • Competence in coaching, training, assurance/audit or investigations.
  • Member of a relevant professional body (or working towards membership).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage at all levels.
  • Curiosity, empathy and the confidence to ask questions that uncover insight.
  • A positive, forward‑thinking mindset with a passion for improvement.
  • Resilience and emotional intelligence and calm under pressure, thoughtful in approach.
  • A self‑starter attitude: energetic, motivated, able to inspire and influence.
