Are you an experienced IT Lead looking for an opportunity to take hands-on ownership of end-to-end IT operations in a small, fast growing data analytics firm with strong team based culture, partnering with our parent company IT function to leverage their extensive infrastructure and team? Are you a hands-on problem solver that thrives with a varied workload? If so, we’d like to hear from you!

Job description

Working with one other team member, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that the IT requirements of the business are met, working closely with our parent company who provide our network, servers and software centrally. The majority of users are in the UK, but you will also support our locations in New York, Singapore, Canada, Germany, and India.

Our core technology includes: Active Directory, M365 and EAC/Exchange Online, Windows 10, Windows Server 2016, Microsoft Office, OneDrive, Teams, Zoom, MDM and iOS, ServiceNow, SharePoint Online, Salesforce, networking using DHCP/DNS, cabling, patching ports and switches, KeepItSafe Cloud backup & restore, BIOS/PXE/USB boot laptop imaging, Command Prompt, Batch file scripting, TeamViewer Remote Support, RDP. Other key technology includes: Slack, AirWatch / VMWare Workspace ONE, Mimecast email archiving, Lenovo laptops, Dell servers, vulnerability scanning, Dell VRTX, iDRAC, Cisco VC / Rooms, PowerShell, SQL Server, VPN, Access Control management

You’ll enjoy juggling a varied workload, of which the main responsibilities can be broadly divided into four key areas:

Technology projects lead

The successful candidate will be passionate about delivering IT change and upgrade projects, working with Expand, BCG and external stakeholders to ensure our IT projects succeed. In this role you’ll be the driving force behind the implementation, adoption, and monitoring of new software and systems, managing our bespoke IT requirements to ensure that BCG-wide systems are configured to work for Expand, as well as bringing new ideas to the table to help us develop our technology landscape to operate efficiently and effectively.

In this exciting, fast-paced and varied role, strong time management skills are essential to success. With a proactive, forward-thinking approach and a long-term strategic focus, you’ll be passionate about supporting and developing our technology for success today and in the future.

Cybersecurity, risk and assurance

Technology can pose significant and evolving business risk so you’ll need a strong understanding of Cyber Security standards and a keen interest in staying up to date, as this role is key to governing IT and ensuring that our systems and data remain safe and secure. With your help, we’ll be able to manage cyber risks, protecting our services and our clients’ data.

Part of this is managing risk and assurance, so documenting our technological infrastructure and processes will be a vital element of assuring business continuity. You’ll also be responsible for developing and implementing IT risk management processes and policies, using your information security experience to ensure business continuity measures are in place.

Technology operations support

Technology and digital platforms facilitate so much of what we do at Expand, so being an escalation point of contact for day-to-day technical support is an essential job. You would be responsible for embedding the use of the BCG IT Helpdesk as 1st line support, whilst ensuring that effective and timely support is provided to users in addition to network troubleshooting and owning and maintaining our technology to ensure it operates at peak performance and remains secure. You’ll support people throughout the employee lifecycle, from joiners to leavers – ordering, setting up, retrieving and managing assets for IT and mobile phone equipment, creating and revoking systems and building access, and running IT inductions, all to ensure our team has the technology they need to work at their best.

Client-facing responsibilities

In addition to working closely with all employees to ensure they are equipped with the technology they need to do a great job; you will also be supporting our clients. You would be responsible for:

  • Managing all client risk assessment requests, responding appropriately and collating information from other internal subject matter experts
  • Owning and updating the internal Risk Process Manual, summarising it for clients and proactively providing recommendations to improve it
  • Scheduling and carrying out monitoring checks to comply with client requirements

Job requirements

An ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong organization, prioritisation and time management skills to help them balance the broad scope of this role
  • Experience managing the provision of IT support across the whole spectrum of IT, ideally within a small company, using their initiative to solve problems autonomously while keeping key stakeholders informed
  • Experience supporting Salesforce, Windows 10 and Microsoft Office, server administration, network administration, cyber security and risk as well as being comfortable learning new systems and software as needed
  • Experience of vendor management – raising service requests and seeing through to resolution
  • Knowledge of IT Asset Lifecycle / Management
  • Experience managing and delivering IT projects to meet business requirements
  • Understanding of the ITIL lifecycle
  • Experience of IT policy design and adherence, maintaining parent company and external minimum standards
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to translate technical requirements into layperson language and a talent for building effective working relationships with clients, peers and external providers.
  • A positive, motivated, self-starter and “can do” attitude with a flexible approach to taking on additional tasks if required.

Studies that shown that some people are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every single qualification, so if you are excited about this role but your experience does not align perfectly with every qualification in this job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. If you are a quick learner, conscientious and friendly, you might be just the person we’re looking for.
