About the role

We need a talented individual to become part of our Customs team working as part of a 6-person team. As a Compliance Administrator, reporting to the Customs & Excise Tax Lead, you will be responsible for carrying out routine compliance checks, maintaining records and tracking actions, preparing compliance documentation, and identifying and escalating issues in line with agreed procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete assigned KPI/live checks in line with the agreed rota and evidence requirements.
  • Complete standard systems-based audit checks and evidence review tasks as directed by the Customs & Compliance Specialist.
  • Request, gather, organise and check evidence from terminals and internal stakeholders against agreed checklists.
  • Prepare working papers, evidence packs, exception logs and first-pass notes for review.
  • Maintain assigned records, trackers and evidence folders in line with agreed CASMS procedures and retention requirements.
  • Update and maintain approval records within the Approval Databases, including identifying Exolum and customer approvals due for review.
  • Carry out routine approval status checks by contacting HMRC, terminals and customers to confirm records remain current.
  • Record approval review outcomes and escalate approvals that have not been confirmed, have expired, or have not been replaced.

About You

The successful candidate will have GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English, strong Microsoft Office skills, and experience in an administrative, compliance, operational, stock control, or audit support environment. They will possess excellent attention to detail, be comfortable maintaining records and following structured processes, and have strong written communication and organisational skills. The role requires the ability to manage priorities, work independently, escalate issues when appropriate, and quickly learn compliance procedures, HMRC requirements, and internal systems. A willingness to travel nationally within the UK as required is also essential.
