About the role

As Exolum continues to grow globally, we are building the systems and frameworks needed to integrate our diverse operational knowledge and turn it into a sustainable competitive advantage. The Operational Center of Excellence (O-CoE) plays a central role in this effort, acting as a structured hub to capture, organise, and activate corporate knowledge across the organisation. As an Operational Center of Excellence Engineer, you will contribute to the development, deployment, and continuous improvement of Exolum’s corporate operating model. You will work as part of a global network of experts to identify the most effective ways of working across geographies and translate them into clear, practical standards and playbooks that can be consistently applied. This role directly supports our ambition to capture, standardise, and scale knowledge, enhancing competitiveness in new business tenders, accelerating the integration of new assets, reducing operational risk, and maximising value across all operations. You will collaborate widely across the business, analysing processes, structuring knowledge, and supporting the creation of standards and playbooks. In addition, you will help connect teams by setting up and contributing to working groups that facilitate the sharing of internal expertise and practical experience, ensuring knowledge is not only documented but actively used. The concept of a playbook is adopted as a structured, reusable, and actionable instruction manual, applicable to both low-level operational scenarios and those of greater scope or complexity. In the context of this job description, it is used for: asset integration in M&A processes and the deployment of Exolum in new geographies, businesses, or systems. The playbook turns strategy, business model, and standards into concrete and executable actions, reducing risks, time, and variability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse operational processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, safety, and reliability in line with the company’s strategic objectives.
  • Capture, structure, and scale best practices, lessons learned, and technical knowledge into a coherent and reusable corporate framework.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve operational standards, procedures, and playbooks, ensuring they are practical, clear, and applicable across geographies and business lines.
  • Integrate relevant knowledge into the corporate operating model, ensuring alignment between field practices and defined standards.
  • Support the integration of new assets (M&A or greenfield) through the deployment of playbooks, accelerating time-to-performance.
  • Set up and contribute to cross-functional working groups to share expertise, align practices, and consolidate knowledge across teams.
  • Support internal communication and training efforts to promote understanding and adoption of standards, processes, and tools.
  • Contribute to the governance of the operating model, including tracking deviations and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Operations, HSSE, Technology, Engineering, and Asset Management to ensure alignment and effective implementation of standards.

About You

You hold a bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Chemical, Energy, Mechanical, or similar) or a related technical field, and have at least five years of experience in operations, engineering, maintenance, HSSE, or process improvement within industrial environments. You are comfortable working with operational and performance data and have the ability to translate complex technical practices into clear, structured, and usable documentation. You bring a practical mindset, with a focus on how standards and frameworks are applied in real operations. You are able to work across functions and geographies, engaging stakeholders to align on ways of working and drive adoption. You are organised, structured in your approach, and able to manage multiple priorities in a global context. Professional-level English is required, along with proficiency in tools such as Excel or Power BI. Experience with operational excellence methodologies, asset integration (M&A or greenfield), or industrial environments such as terminals or pipelines will be considered an advantage.

  • Salary £65,000 - £68,000 per annum dependant on experience
