We are looking for a junior to mid-level Underwriting Operations Administrator to support underwriting teams within the London insurance market, covering both Company Market and Lloyd’s Syndicate environments. This role is well suited to someone with early experience in underwriting operations or insurance administration who is looking to build deeper exposure to London Market processes, systems, and lines of business.
You will work closely with underwriters, onshore operations colleagues, and offshore support teams to ensure risks are set up accurately, queries are resolved efficiently, and operational standards are maintained.
Key Responsibilities- Provide day-to-day administrative and operational support to underwriting teams across multiple lines of business.
- Support the processing of risk set-ups, endorsements, renewals, and policy documentation, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Act as a point of contact for offshore underwriting support teams, helping to resolve queries and clarify instructions.
- Assist in ensuring tasks are completed in line with agreed SLAs and operating procedures.
- Liaise with underwriters and operations colleagues to support smooth workflow and reduce delays.
- Maintain consistent operating standards across Company Market and Lloyd’s Syndicate environments.
- Support underwriting teams across lines of business including Marine, Financial Institutions, Aviation, Property, Cargo, and T&L.
- Help keep process documentation and knowledge materials up to date.
- Assist with underwriting operations processes including submission intake, policy administration, sanctions and compliance checks, and policy issuance and documentation.
- Support data quality checks to ensure information entered into underwriting and policy systems is accurate and complete.
- Help identify recurring issues or bottlenecks and escalate where appropriate.
- Support basic reporting and tracking of operational volumes and turnaround times.
Experience in underwriting operations, insurance administration, or a similar support role within the London or Company Specialty Market is required. A basic understanding of Company Market and/or Lloyd’s environments is preferred. Familiarity with London Market systems such as Eclipse, PPL, Whitespace, or similar is desirable but not essential. Strong attention to detail and an organised approach to work is necessary, along with clear and professional communication skills.
