Senior Business Analyst - Banking in Northampton

The Senior Business Analyst (BA) is crucial in implementing Enterprise Data Management (EDM) solutions for EXL Clients. Responsibilities include requirements gathering, data profiling, documentation, and deployment. The BA collaborates with internal and client teams to ensure project success, participating in discovery and design sessions and translating architecture into solution components like data models and reports. Practical experience with SQL and data warehouses is essential. This role involves Data Governance, Data Quality, MDM, Business Intelligence, Cloud, Big Data, Data Modeling, and Project Management. Travel to client sites is required.

As part of your duties, you will be responsible for:

• Collecting business and technical requirements via interviews, document analysis, workshops, surveys, site visits, process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, and workflow analysis.
• Documenting business and technical specs, ensuring updates remain relevant.
• Defining sources for data warehouse attributes and mapping them, including necessary transformation algorithms.
• Generating documentation for business processes (As Is – To Be), functional and technical specs, and use cases.
• Identifying opportunities to streamline or improve existing data management processes.
• Performing gap analysis of policies, processes, and capabilities against frameworks or target states.
• Assisting with roadmap creation, incorporating prioritization, dependency analysis, and resourcing.
• Developing data dictionaries, source-to-target mappings, and a business glossary in collaboration with Data SMEs and stakeholders.
• Creating business rules for data acquisition, integration, and quality monitoring.
• Gathering and documenting reports, analyses, and data access requirements.
• Assessing and documenting the structure, quality, and conformance of source data.
• Initiating analysis to identify and resolve data inconsistencies, improving data integrity.
• Identifying, analyzing, and interpreting trends in data and recommending business and process improvements.
• Collaborating with team members, leadership, and clients on status, risks, issues, and decisions.
• Supporting tech lead and developers with business and data inquiries.
• Collaborating with Project Managers and engaging in project planning.
• Conducting feasibility analysis, scoping projects, and assisting in prioritizing deliverables.
• Serving as the bridge between business units, technology, and support teams.
• Generating reports to aid stakeholders and project teams as needed.

Qualifications and experience:

• 7 years of experience in Analyst role.
• 5 years of consulting experience strongly preferred.
• 3 years of experience leading offshore teams.
• Practical experience in at least 2 of the following areas: Data Integration/Movement, Data Quality, Master Data Management, Data Governance, Business and Data Analysis.
• Extensive experience in identifying and documenting business requirements in a data management environment, including use of joint application design facilitation or other requirements gathering techniques.
• Experience working with business and IT functions in a variety of corporate cultures, as both an employee and consultant, is preferred.
• Experience mapping processes and identifying improvement opportunities.
• Experienced working in centralized and federated corporate structures.
• Experienced working with multiple levels of client personnel to gather information, validate analysis, and make recommendations.
• Experience developing business case for recommendations.
• Knowledge of investment banking trade/risk domain would be preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms and complex business concepts in technical terms.
• Bachelor Degree or Equivalent.
• Excellent organisational and analytic abilities.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to bridge business and technology.
• Detail-oriented, analytical, and highly organised.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Collaborative mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
