Job Description

Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct Tax Compliance:
    • Manage the preparation and submission of UK corporation tax returns and computations.
    • Oversee the tax implications for  investment activities.
    • Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the firm and investments
    • Handle tax inquiries and audits from HMRC.
    • Provide tax planning advice to the finance and investment teams.
  • Indirect Tax Compliance:
  • Manage VAT compliance, including preparation and submission of VAT returns.
  • Ensure compliance with other relevant indirect taxes.
  • Advise on the VAT implications of transactions and business activities.
  • Prepare and review tax provisions and disclosures for financial statements.
  • Conduct tax research and analysis to support tax planning and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate tax records and documentation.
  • Liaise with external tax advisors and auditors.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the fund accountants regarding tax related matters.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CTA) with a strong tax background.
  • Proven experience in a tax management role, preferably within the financial services industry, ideally within a hedge fund or asset management firm.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK corporation tax and VAT regulations.
  • Familiarity with international tax principles is desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.  
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with tax software.  
  • Ability to work 4 days a week from the office located in the square mile.
